چکیده

An algorithm for first–principles electronic structure calculations having a computational cost which scales linearly with the system size is presented. Our method exploits the real–space localization of the density matrix, and in this respect it is related to the technique of Li, Nunes and Vanderbilt. The density matrix is expressed in terms of localized support functions, and a matrix of variational parameters, L αβ having a finite spatial range. The total energy is minimized with respect to both the support functions and the L αβ parameters. The method is variational, and becomes exact as the ranges of the support functions and L matrix are increased. We have tested the method on crystalline silicon systems containing up to 216 atoms, and we discuss some of these results.

A Self-Consistent Technique for the Construction and Evaluation of the Three-Parameter Corresponding States Principles

A self-consistent approach for the evaluation of the existing three-parameter corresponding states principles of non-polar fluids and the calculation of the corresponding states parameters is presented. This self consistent approach is based upon the assumption that the contribution of the third parameter to the thermophysical properties is much smaller than the contributions of the first two p...

Stable and Efficient Linear Scaling First-Principles Molecular Dynamics for 10000+ Atoms.

The recent progress of linear-scaling or O(N) methods in density functional theory (DFT) is remarkable. Given this, we might expect that first-principles molecular dynamics (FPMD) simulations based on DFT could treat more realistic and complex systems using the O(N) technique. However, very few examples of O(N) FPMD simulations exist to date, and information on the accuracy and reliability of t...

Ja n 19 95 LOOP SPACE HAMILTONIAN FOR c ≤ 1 OPEN STRINGS

We construct a string field Hamiltonian describing the dynamics of open and closed strings with effective target-space dimension c ≤ 1. In order to do so, we first derive the Dyson-Schwinger equations for the underlying large N vector+matrix model and formulate them as a set of constraints satisfying decoupled Virasoro and U(1) current algebras. The Hamiltonian consists of a bulk and a boundary...

NEW MODELS AND ALGORITHMS FOR SOLUTIONS OF SINGLE-SIGNED FULLY FUZZY LR LINEAR SYSTEMS

We present a model and propose an approach to compute an approximate solution of Fully Fuzzy Linear System $(FFLS)$ of equations in which all the components of the coefficient matrix are either nonnegative or nonpositive. First, in discussing an $FFLS$ with a nonnegative coefficient matrix, we consider an equivalent $FFLS$ by using an appropriate permutation to simplify fuzzy multiplications. T...

Ja n 19 99 Scaling properties of transverse flow in Bjorken ’ s scenario for heavy ion collisions

We report a simple analytic solution for the velocity u of the transverse flow of QGP at a hadronization front in Bjorken’s scenario. We establish scaling properties of the transverse flow as a function of the expansion time. We present simple scaling formula for the expansion velocity distribution.
